If you want to keep some low frequency information use some mid side eq. Low frequency information does not sit well on most systems when panned so far out and is best mono. Artists like Beyonce can use several tens of layers in just one part of a song.Īlso, since your vocals are panned so far out in the stereo field you should remove unnecessary low frequency information. Part of getting good layers is having a good vocalist in the first place. Obviously, don't use the same take on both sides or you will simply end up with a collapsed stereo field and your layers will sound like they are centered. One simple way to get these nice wide layers is to pan some left and pan some right. You have to be careful similarly recorded layers don't phase each other out. It takes some time to master this technique.
